In case you are still thinking that building a shed yourself is more expensive, than buying a ready-built storage shed, then you’re deeply wrong. The reason I’m writing this article is because I want to encourage people to actually build a storage shed, rather than spend thousands of bucks buying one.
There’s also another alternative of hiring a qualified woodworker to do ALL the work for you. Without a doubt, this is the easiest option, because in this case you won’t have to do anything, but then this will empty your wallet quite badly. For the laziest people in the world, this is the way to go.
Although, if you don’t mind doing a bit of labour, then you should definitely build your own shed in the backyard. I mean it’s not exactly difficult so to speak. Certainly, having DIY instructions, like garden shed plans, would be very beneficial, but those of you with a bit of expertise don’t even need that.
If you are on a tight budget, then this is an excellent woodworking design idea to save you some cash. Hardware shops build a shed for about $200-300 dollars, and then put it for sale twice or even three times the original cost. It’s just a rip off, and those of you, who do the work yourself will understand.
There are a few things to keep in mind, if you are doing this on your premises. First of all, it’s important to make sure that you don’t need any special shed building permission from your local authority. I would double check this, if I were you, because otherwise you may run into unnecessary problems in the future.
Don’t try to cut money by buying cheap wood materials, as this will affect the long-term features of the shed. It may not cope well with the rainy/snowy weather and therefore won’t last for long. It’s better to invest into a quality shed roof and other parts, rather than buy some cheap stuff and regret later on.
